My second semester of college I needed to fulfill a Fine Arts requirement for my English degree. I could’ve taken an Art History class and had done with it, but I decided to be difficult and see if I could get into a glassblowing class. I think my logic process was something to the effect of “If I’m going to go to this really great art school, shouldn’t I see what all the fuss is about?” So I took an override form over to the Fine Arts Building. A thousand things could’ve happened. The head of the glass department could’ve refused. The grad student teaching the class could’ve laughed me out of the department for calling him “Professor Cioe.” The class could’ve been full. What seemed certainly the least likely outcome was the one that took place: I got in the glass class.Stay tuned for more!
